Question by : What’s a simple and/or easy way to prevent acne with the use of creams or medication?
My acne is starting to reappear on my face, and I was wondering how I could prevent it from spreading some more? I used to take Accutane, but I stopped taking it because my blood pressure was rapidly rising as a side effect. I don’t wash my oily face often, because I’m not certain if I should. I tend to get mixed advice from people about it, so I’m not sure what to do. Any good suggestions?

benzoyl peroxide was the one medication that always seemed to work, at least somewhat. I went to the store with an open mind and saw “Exact” brand 5% benzoyl peroxide. It claimed something like, “all the effectiveness without all the dryness.” I tried it, and my acne lessened. At this point I also added moisturizer to my routine. My skin was extremely dry on Accutane so I got used to using moisturizer every day. For the next couple of years I stuck with twice daily gentle cleansing, 5% benzoyl peroxide, and moisturizer. The zits never subsided completely, but things were better than before.

Then the dreaded acne struck. I would rather die than face family and friends with those ugly blotches all over my face. This is the effect that acne has, it destroys self image and confidence.

I became withdrawn and depressed. I thought that the acne would never improve. I think I tried every acne treatment on the drugstore shelves during that time. Finally I got fed up and decided that none of the available acne medications worked.

It took some time for me to get it together and to realize that medication does have a place in the treatment and prevention of acne.

The first thing I did was to reduce the amount of refined food in my diet. Not only did it help my skin problems but it also helped to stabilize to my weight.

What does this have to do with acne relief? Well when I cut out artificial chemicals, antibiotic and preservatives my acne began to clear. Especially if you have yeast infections you will find a great improvement in your acne.

How to prevent acne? That is the question asked by teenagers and young adults for generations. The answer is that there is no one answer or treatment that will help every acne sufferer. As a child I enjoyed life and loved to be around family and friends.

Develop a gentle and healthy skin care process. I never use a cloth on my face. All of this has reduced the need for acne medications because the breakouts are not as bad and are easier to clear up without the use of acne medications.

So if you want to prevent acne, you need to eat a healthy diet, eliminate or at least reduce the intake of highly processed foods that contain a lot of chemical additive and establish a gentle daily cleaning routine and use less acne treatment medication as a method of how to prevent acne.More about acne prevention: http://www.acne-adult-skin-care-products-and-treatments.com/adult-acne-prevention.html

Question by Chimpin Out: How do I prevent acne after getting waxed?
I’m a pretty hairy guy but I like to keep it in check, especially during the summer time. So I recently got my back waxed and within 24hrs my back totally broke out and it was like 3 weeks of painful itchy acne. What can I do to prevent this? I want to get it waxed again but I certainly don’t want this awful side-effect again.
Is there a specific soap or body wash I should use?

Before you learn how to prevent acne pimples, it helps to find out why acne happens in the first place. There are plenty of myths going around, such as chocolate causes acne. Foods do not cause acne, however healthy foods like fruits and vegetables may have a positive effect on your skin due to the nutrients and antioxidants they contain. In addition to consuming lots of produce, drink plenty of water which is the best beverage for the skin and body. Exercise, followed by a good cleansing of the face, can help clean the pores and prevent acne pimples.

Speaking of cleansing, twice daily is recommended. If you have acne, then your skin is probably oily or combination. For oily skin, choose a cleansing gel. These gels foam up when you lather them in your hands with warm water. There are also foaming cleansers and even those that heat up on contact. The important thing is that you find the right cleanser for your skin type. If you like natural products there are plenty in organic markets that contain ingredients like witch hazel, cucumber, citrus and rose water.

Using a toner after cleansing is a good idea. It helps get rid of any dirt left behind. Simply moisten a cotton ball or pad with your toner of choice and swipe across the face. Do not rinse. Toners come in all natural varieties as well as popular brands like Sea Breeze. Rachel Perry makes various toners for different skin types with natural ingredients and pretty packaging. Basically every company who has a skin care line makes toner. For a cheap fix, try witch hazel. After the toning process, it is time to apply any treatments you have selected. To prevent acne pimples, look for something with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.

For adult acne, salicylic acid is recommended because it is more gentle for maturing skin than benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is ideal for teenage acne because teen skin can usually handle the harsher medication. There are doctor prescribed topical and oral treatments for acne that can prevent acne pimples for those who have experienced severe breakouts in the past. This is something to discuss with your doctor because they have to prescribe the medication to you and discuss how it is used. Prescription medication to prevent acne pimples is usually the last resort after other remedies have failed.

Question by Fox: How can I prevent acne caused by my period?
I know one answer will most likely be birth control. The problem is, I don’t know how I can get it. I’m 16; If I discuss it with my mom then she’s going to think that I’m going to be having sex with my boyfriend (Which I don’t intend on doing). I don’t have my license either, nor do any of my friends. Is there any way I can prevent the acne, or any possible way of convincing my mom? Thanks all in advance.

Question by Tractor: How can I prevent acne while taking prednisone?
I am starting an 8 week dosage of prednisone and I want to know how to prevent myself from getting acne while I’m taking that medicine. I know that acne is one of the side effects from that drug. I took it once before and I got a bad case of acne that was really painful. Thanks in advance.

I also suffered from acne while taking prednisone. I am still currently taking prednisone, but my acne has recently cleared up. I’m blemish free & can’t figure out what I’m doing differently.

An antibiotic like tetracycline would probably help with your acne & does not interact with prednisone. I’d ask your doctor about this before beginning a regimen.

Good luck!
