Spionolactone isn’t an acne medication… it’s a diuretic used primarily for the treatment of hypertension and congestive heart failure.

You’re can ask your doctor to prescribe anything, but the decision is theirs.

Frustrated with acne and unsightly acne marks? Searching for ways on how to improve your skin? Good news! Acne has a cure!True enough, acne can be frustrating. It could be because of its annoying redness or perhaps the disgusted look of people whenever they look at you.

But what is acne? What causes acne?

Acne can affect anyone not only teenagers. It is an ordinary skin disease that is associated with hormonal imbalance. In women, the primary factors that contribute to acne development are: elevated levels of androgens (male hormones) or estrogens (female hormones). Then again, in men, they actually are very similar with their female counterpart. What contributes to the appearance of acne in male is similar to his female counterpart – hormonal imbalance. Generally, this hormonal imbalance activates the sebaceous glands which then result in the over-production of oil in acne prone areas of the body such as the face, back, arms, and chest. When oil, dirt, bacteria clogs the pores in the body, pimple or acne emerges.

Besides hormonal imbalance, genetics, stress, a number of medications, occupation environment, puberty and poor observance of hygiene contribute to the development of acne.

How to treat hormonal imbalance in men and womenMany experts believe that to be able to get rid of acne, treatment and acne management should focus on the eradication of the causative and contributing factors. Let’s say for example, stress. Stress can contribute to acne formation too. Given that stress contributes to the development of acne, then that person is usually advised to avoid stressful activities to combat acne.

On the other hand, as discussed earlier, hormonal imbalance play a big role in the development of acne for both men and women. So for those who have hormonal imbalance, the focus of the treatment is to restore the normal levels of the sex hormones, namely estrogen and androgen.

Hormonal acne treatment

The hormonal acne treatment mechanism works by restoring the natural or the original balance of the hormones as to aid in the normal production of oil by the sebaceous glands. Remember that we are not using hormonal acne treatment to disrupt the natural order of the hormones. On the contrary, we want the sebaceous glands to fulfill its function by producing the right amount of oil.

As of the moment, the most commonly used hormonal acne treatment for women is the birth control pills. The drugs mostly prescribed to treat acne in men are anti- androgen drugs and oral corticosteroids.

Is there such thing as a natural hormonal acne treatment?

Most definitely, natural hormonal acne treatments do exist and this includes antioxidants. Antioxidants are an effective hormonal equalizers and blood purifiers too. They can even help the skin improve the skin’s texture and natural glow. Besides, antioxidants can help stop new acne breakouts.Generally, these natural hormonal acne treatments are used to restore the natural balance of the hormones thus preventing acne breakouts. In addition, they reduce inflammation and swelling and assist in fast skin repair.

Most definitely, we all want a good looking skin. If you intend to use hormonal acne therapy either the synthetic or the natural ones, be sure to consult a dermatologist to make sure that the chosen therapy is appropriate for you.

What age for men does Hormonal Acne go away?
because my mom and dad had it but they said it went away as they got older, but forgot what age they were when it went away. My dad told me one day he woke up and he noticed it going away on its own and he also told me he had cystic acne too, but it just went away.
I just turned 19 and been on accutane but i noticed some coming back.

So what age for men does Acne usually go away for males?

Thanks!

take about four aspirin and dissolve them in a few drops of water.. add in a squirt of honey and make it into a paste.. you can also add in a few vitamin e capsules if ya like.. this can be used as a scrub, mask if left on for ten minutes, and a spot treatment left on over night.. it works like pro active.. i’ve used both and got the same result with each which is clear skin.. pro active dried my skin out, but aspirin didn’t.. it’s a lot cheaper also..

oh.. and pro active contains benzoil peroxide.. whereas aspirin contains salicylic acid ..

another thing i do as an exfoliate is i scrub my face with an electric toothbrush.. it’s sounds kinda weird but it works.. it really cleans out your pores and removes dead skin, oil and dirt.. you can use any scrub ya like or the aspirin i mentioned.. i like to use st. ives.. and i do it about three times a week..

only wash your face when you wake up in the morning, before you go to bed, and after exercise.. excess washing makes your face produce extra oil..

warm water opens pores and cold closes them.. so wash with warm and rinse with cold..

and watch the make up you use.. a mineral make up is much better for your skin.. it doesn’t clog your pores or cause break outs.. i recommend bare minerals..

drink lots of water.. eat healthy.. and take vitamin e, vitamin c, zinc and b vitamins..

i hope this helps..

Question by oldschool107: How do I reduce my hormonal acne?
I am 19 and I have recently discovered that my acne is entirely hormonal and so it has been a pain to try and resolve. I have tried: Proactiv, retin-a, neutregena 3-step package, neutregena deep facial scrub, clean and clear blackhead remover, some pill my dermatoligist recommended, the list goes on.

Bottom line is I haven’t had much luck with any of them and was wondering if anyone could tell me a product that helps reduce hormonal acne.

only antibotics will work that are perscribed from a dermatologist
Accutane is one way that is GUAREENTEED to work but it will dry out your entire skin, eyes, mouth, lip, etc. and cause joint pain, it only can be perscribed after blood tests are taken

If possible, birth control pills will help quite a bit!

Question by shortandsweet: Hormonal Acne?
I recently stopped taking the birth control pill because it was making me throw up every morning. Although the acne I had BEFORE I started the pill was not changed initially, now that I have discontinued the pill, my face is breaking out. Is there anything I can do to stop the acne? I use Differin lotion and a topical antibiotic (which have worked very well in the past), I have dry skin and seborrheic dermatitis, and I am allergic to benzoyl peroxide.
Do NOT be one of those people that copy-pastes the first link that came up on a search that tells me what acne is and gives advice that everyone has heard before. I know what acne is, moron, and I know how to use a search engine, so please don’t bother.

Yes, I used a search engine to find this, but read it before you snap at me. Perhaps you will find this useful.

“There are also several vitamins and herbs that help to stimulate the body to cleanse itself and get rid of the unsightly acne. Vitamin A helps the body reduce the production of sebum. On popular and dangerous, prescription drug, Accutane, is a high dose of vitamin A. The problem with this drug is that it can cause severe birth defects if a woman who is taking it becomes pregnant and it can also lead to depression in teenagers. It is better to take an over-the-counter Vitamin A supplement.

Zinc also helps to prevent acne, as well as heal current breakouts. Zinc helps to regulate the hormonal imbalances that can cause acne. Vitamin B6 is another helpful vitamin, particularly for women suffering from menstrual acne breakouts. The herbs sarsaparilla, yellow dock, cleavers and burdock take together help clear the body of lymph infections and therefore of acne. Tea tree oil can be applied directly to acne spots to help reduce the pain and appearance of the problem.”

I also remember a column in Ann Landers maybe 20 years ago that suggested putting raw egg yolk on the face daily (like a mask) for I think it was a month. It was supposed to clear up the acne for good. I never got past a few days, so I don’t know how well it works.

Question by ~*~Lacey~*~: When does hormonal acne start to go away?
I’m pretty sure it’s just hormonal, because it started as mild acne when I was 12, it was at it’s worst when I was 13 and 14, and now that I’m 15, it has seemed to have calmed down a little bit. Could it be because my hormone levels are going down or something? And if that’s so, when will I stop breaking out for good?

Answer by sokokl
This hormonal acne could be going away because your body is trying to mature in to an adult (an example only). If this is the case you should be ready to stop having acne issues within the next year or two (another example only).

I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
